So Behind!

S, tomorrow Leilah turns 10 months old. I just can't even believe it! But I am so behind on blogging. I need to post halloween, nine month pictures and stats, and now 10 month's too! Anyway, expect it soon! As of now she just growing so fast and literally running around the house, it's hard too keep up with her! Shawn is doing so much. He's working hard, and finishing up his semester. I'm so proud of him, and grateful to have such a great husband!

Breaking Bad Habits

Do any of you remember reading this book?
In it Mama Bear realizes that her family watches way too much tv, and so she turns it off for a week. Unfortunately for me, I'm not like Mama Bear...I'm a huge part of the problem at my house. I have realized lately that I watch way too much TV, and even when I'm not watching it's just on as background noise! SO, It taking Mama Bear's challenge! Now, I'm not pulling Shawn into my experiment yet, because he's not as bad as me:)
The crazy thing is that we don't even have cable...oh goodness, think about how bad I would be if we did...I'd spend all day in front of the DIY channel.
So, my challenge starts tomorrow. So, wish me luck...I'll keep you updated!

Shawn's Birthday!

Thanks to the help of my wonderful mother, I was able to take Shawn away for a night to Mount Elbert, for his birthday! We had so much fun playing with Leilah, relaxing, hiking, and taking a ton of pictures. Here they are!

So Talented at 8 Months!

Look at the progress this little sweetie is making! I can't believe that she's learning and growing so fast! I think she learns something new everyday. It is wonderful to watch, but makes me a little sad that she''s growing up so fast. this all happened within the first 2 weeks of turning 8 months old. So far it has been such a fun month, and I know it will only get more fun with halloween coming. W also had the chance to take her to her first college football game. For some reason I can't download all of my pictures so here are a few...including her 8 month picture!

Sorry about the camera on its side and flipping over...I guess just watch it laying on your side:)

6 & 7th months

Here are Leilah's adorable 6th and 7th month pictures!
sorry its so behind!

She is just a cutie, and getting way too big. Not to mention that since she turned 6 months old she's been completely mobile, so it is just impossible to get great pictures with little effort, like we use to. To prove my point...here is what we went through to get these two pictures:

So, yes, our little Leilah is moving...and moving fast! At six months she would scoot around the room, starting in the downward dog yoga pose and diving forward. By the eight or ninth of August she figured out how strong she was, and that she could pull herself up on anything. She had done it before, but only on things pretty low to the ground. Now she knows how to move to what she wants and pull herself up to it. Here is a video of one of her first experiences!
Sorry about the messes...it was big time laundry day:)

Here she is a month later. Now, she even knows when we're coming to get her so she doesn't grab something she shouldn't. She starts crawling super fast to get there before we can get to her:)

Some other highlights of this the last two month include Air Force football kick off, starting solids, and just plain 'ol getting cuter!
Here are tons more pics!

oh yeah, I'm never buying this girl toys again. All she wants is pots and boxes.

Hmmm....

Don't worry. We washed them!

Warning!

Warning! I'm catching up on our blog... that means that there are many new posts. There isn't too much writing, because I have too many to do, and my eyes are sleepy. In the next few days I will post Leilah's 6 month stats and pictures, as well as some pictures of my most recent project (I'm working on quite a few. It's a miracle one is actually done!).
Anyway...read on! If you so dare!

New Tricks

Leilah is learning everyday. Here is her newest trick. Sorry, I sound funny again:)
behind the camera I am waving at her like crazy...and she might think I am!

Deep in thought

Where's Waldo?...I mean Leilah?

I went to get Leilah out of her crib the other day....and I couldn't find her!!

Bundles of Joy

I am finally getting my Etsy site up and running. IT is very simple right now, but I'm working on adding more everyday! So, please spread the word to friends that might be looking for great gifts for a new or expecting mom in their lives. I have high hopes that this will quickly get off the ground allowing me to bring in a little income and be back home with my sweet baby!

Father

"Fatherhood is leadership, the most important kind of leadership. It has always been so; it always will be so. Father, with the assistance and counsel and encouragement of your eternal companion, you preside in the home. It is not a matter of whether you are most worthy or best qualified, but it is a matter of law and appointment. You preside at the meal table, at family prayer. You preside at family home evening; and as guided by the Spirit of the Lord, you see that your children are taught correct principles. It is your place to give direction relating to all of family life."

I was never able to post for Father's Day, but I cannot go without recognizing what an amazing father Shawn is. Rarely does anything touch my heart more than watching Shawn with Leilah. I have always know the strength and goodness in Shawn, but Leilah brings out his best. My favorite times are coming into the room and hearing him teaching her about something that he loves, or singing her a song (making up words to a familiar tune). I know that Shawn will continue to teach Leilah because I see the joy that it brings him. Leilah will grow up in a home with a father who is a righteous example and has a strong testimony of our Father in Heaven.

"It must be emphasized that as a father, you are always teaching. For good or ill your family learns your ways, your beliefs, your heart, your ideas, your concerns. Your children may or may not choose to follow you, but the example you give is the greatest light you hold before your children, and you are accountable for that light."

(I absolutely love the tenderness of this picture)
